More Krugerrand gold bullion coins have been minted than all the other gold coins from the different mints put together. Most Krugerrand gold coins were minted in the 1970s to meet the demand as many investors flocked to buy gold bullions as protection against inflation. Today, the Krugerrands are the most successful gold bullion coins ever minted.
The Krugerrand gold bullions come in four different sizes: 1 Troy Ounce, ½ Troy Ounce, ¼ Troy Ounce, and 1/10 Troy Ounce. Like all other gold bullions on the market, the 1 Ounce Krugerrand is by far the most popular and are significantly higher priced than their fractional counterparts. It is also important to note that the Krugerrand is struck with a 0.9167 fine gold (22 Karats).
